The National Stem Cell Foundation of Australia (NSCFA) together with the ASSCR is generously sponsoring a large number of Postgraduate students and early career researcher (ECRs) to attend and present their research at the 2019 annual meeting. ASSCR will also provide two conference travel awards for Postgraduate students and ECRs from New Zealand institutions. These Awards will contribute to the cost of attending the meeting (full registration fee and an average airfare cost based on the geographical location of awardees).
To be eligible, you must:
Be a Postgraduate students and/or ECRs from Australia and New Zealand
Be a current member of ASSCR
Submit an abstract by the abstract submission deadline, regardless of requests for oral or poster presentations as all abstracts will be peer reviewed.
Complete the application form and email it to the email address specified by the abstract submission deadline. All sections of the form need to be completed including signatures from both the applicant and supervisor.
NOTE: ECR is defined as someone whose graduation date is less than 6 years from the last date of the conference (PhD awarded on or after 15th November 2013).
Notification and Award Conditions
Applicants will be notified of the outcome of travel award applications at the time of abstract acceptance. Awardees must acknowledge the support of the NSCFA and ASSCR on their oral and poster presentations. A logo and acknowledgement slide will be emailed to all awardees. Successful applicants may also be contacted to provide photographs and/or testimonials. All awardees are expected to attend for the duration of the conference including the closing ceremony.
Best Oral and Poster Presentation Prizes
There will also be Prizes for the best oral and poster presentations by Postgraduate students and ECRs. These will be determined by a team of oral and poster presentation judges and will be announced in the final session of the conference. If you wish to be considered for these Prizes, please tick the appropriate box in the application form.

AGCTS Travel Awards
The Australasian Gene and Cell Therapy Society (AGCTS) is pleased to announce the creation of two new travel awards for individuals intending to present research at the Society's biennial meeting, which is being held in conjunction with the annual meetings of the Australian Society for Stem Cell Research (ASSCR) and the ANZ chapter of the International Cell and Gene Therapy Society (ISCT ANZ) in Brisbane over 13-15 November 2019.
Individuals who submit an abstract for the meeting, register as AGCTS attendees, and are in good financial standing as new or renewed members of the AGCTS will be eligible.
The awardees will be selected from the pool of applicants by the Executive Committee of the AGCTS, based on their submitted abstract fulfilling the criteria of scientific quality, innovation, and relevance to gene therapy.
Travel award open to all AGCTS members:
One award of $1000 AUD for an AGCTS member at any career stage. The recipient will be invited to present their research as an oral communication at the meeting.
Travel award for ECR and student AGCTS members:
One award of $1000 AUD for either an Early Career Researchers (ECR) or student AGCTS member. The recipient will be invited to present their research as an oral communication at the meeting.
NOTE: An ECR is defined as someone whose graduation date is less than six (6) years from the last day of the conference (PhD awarded on or after 15th November 2013).
Panos Ioannou Young Investigator Award:
One award of $2,000 AUD. For travel support to attend an International Gene and Cell Therapy Conference (≤ 6 years post‐doctoral experience and late-stage PhD students).
Esteemed Member Conference Prize:
One award of $3,000 AUD. For travel support to attend the British Society of Gene and Cell Therapy Conference in 2020 (≥ 6 years post‐doctoral experience; students are not eligible).
Student Member Conference Prizes:
Up to two oral and two poster prizes will be offered, $250 AUD each.
